About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join the Retail Operations team, to identify and implement opportunities to improve margin performance, within the company-owned and company-operated estate!

The Convenience operation is based in York and the Licensed operation is based in Crewe. This role will be split between both York and Crewe to allow you to work closely with the relevant stakeholders in Trading; Marketing; Finance and Store Design.


Your main responsibilities

  • Ensure stores projects are implemented in line with data analysing, customer trends and insight
  • Work closely with the Commercial Compliance team to ensure stores trade in a safe and legal manner
  • Create data analysis to support decision-making and communicate to stakeholders during weekly briefs
  • Drive own brand performance and category mix to optimise profitable sales at store level
  • Manage effective communications with stores and support teams to deliver against the critical path projects
  • Ensure effective communications across the company-owned stores detailing key operational issues that require resolution
  • Review and address any issues before they go live in stores
  • Provide accurate and relevant data to identify the best approach
  • Input accurate and timely operational analysis into compliance review documentation
  • Ability to analyse varying levels of data to make performance-enhancing decisions
  • Management of critical paths to deliver activity on time

About You

  • Previous experience working in a similar role
  • Ability to influence and build strong working relationships
  • Strong planning, prioritisation, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work at a fast pace and on overlapping tasks
  • Strong analytical and competent Excel skills
  • Great attention to detail and clarity of thinking
  • Good business acumen and commercial thinking
  • Understand the retail marketplace from a commercial perspective
  • A can-do-attitude, tenacious, persistent, and above all the drive to ensure we deliver a high standard of work
